Courtney Shipley has been serving as a Lawrence City Commissioner since 2019, including a term as mayor, the first Latina Mayor of Lawrence. Courtney has also served as chair of the Lawrence Association of Neighborhoods and served on the city’s Board of Zoning Appeals as well as the advisory board for the Transient Guest Tax Grant Program and the boards of the Lawrence Preservation Alliance and The Friends of Oak Hill Cemetery.
A resident of Lawrence for more than 30 years, Courtney and her husband are raising two wonderful children in the community they love. She graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Slavic Languages and Literature. She works as a property manager.
